Anyways, what this means is that after this post I will be going back and recapping the last three months - at least the highlight events.
So the Inauguration - did anyone else watch. I was very interested in this particular inauguration. Our nations 44th President! To start out, I did not vote for Barack Obama. However, I believe that it is important to support our elected leaders and therefore I do support our new President. I am a little nervous however. I truly believe that President Obama has enormous potential to do good in our country and in the world. He has so much support and is a natural leader. In the words of the Obama political mantra, I have hope for this President. Yet, I can't seem to shake this nagging feeling I have that while he has so much potential for good that his policies might be truly scary. One line from his speech just keeps running through my head. "We need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again remaking America." Now that may not be the exact wording but I find it so interesting that he used the word "remake". He could have said renew, revitalize or reestablish, all of which convey some sense of a return to our past or of bolstering up but he said remake. That to me sounds like he wants to change much of what makes America, America.
My greatest fear is that he has plans leading us down a road of government control where our freedom is slowly but surely diminished. The scariest part is that I believe if this is the course of action he takes that in the beginning his ideas and solutions will be embraced whole heartily but most of the American public. It will only be later that they realize that they no longer have the choice and freedom to choose what is best for themselves and their families, there will be only the one choice, mandated from the government. I just hope he remembers that while he may have a wonderful solution, it is still the people's right to choose that solution for themselves not have his solution mandated to us.
Well enough of my ramblings. I will just keep praying that freedom, agency and choice prevail. Our country is built on those principles. They set us apart from the world. I will continue to have HOPE!

Grat thoughts Lisa. I did not vote for Pres. Obama but I am very interested in politics this go around. I support him & hope that he can really do some good for our country. I do hope that people realize that he is just a man & he has a lot of people influencing his decisions as well. Just like former Pres. Bush. I believe that being the President of the USA is probably one of the toughest jobs ever (besides motherhood). Let's wish him luck & pray that we will be able to recognize the good from the bad. Sorry for rambling.
I am so glad you posted on yesterday. I wrote quite a few posts, but kept erasing them because I could not put into words the things I was feeling. I did not vote for him either, but I absolutely support him as our President. I even felt pride and excited yesterday as I watched the Inauguration. I like that he talked about EVERYONE being a solution to the problem. I think people are so quick these days to blame their problems on everyone else (government, wall street, etc.) and don't look at themselves as having any fault.
I also noticed that very line about remaking America and wondered what that meant. There are a lot of things to fix, no doubt, but we are still America and a great nation that doesn't need a complete overhaul! I hope our Constitution will be interpreted as it was intended under this administration.
Lastly, I would have loved to hear more references to God in his speech. Maybe I missed them, but the only time I heard it mentioned was at the end, "God bless America". Was there more? That is one of the things I liked most about Bush, his acknowledgement of God and his hand in our country affairs.
Thanks for the post!
Total agreement on your thoughts as well. It is hard knowing that many scary things with our government need to happen before the second coming will be here. It worries me that this might be the beginning to the real end. I pray that President Obama can make the changes he promises, especially for the sake of our children who will grow up in the wake of his policies.
Chuka thinks someone will try to take him out. Great boy comment huh! His unique situation brings more targets to him. We pray for our new President every day. I think anyone in his position needs all the help they can get.
I'm grateful for your post, Lisa, but I think I'm even more grateful to know that you're alive. Phew! Diddo to the others' comments, too.
I agree that the job of President is one of the toughest ever, and that Obama deserves our support and help. But I also agree with what you've said about his idea of 'remaking' America. The government's grip is getting slowly and steadily tighter. I just hope the American people will have clear vision. I also hope the secret service will have clear vision over the next four years! They've sure got their hands full!
I too second your sentiments Lisa. I watched with the girls and we were really excited for the potential here. A few other comments ticked in my mind just like the remake. Ones like Anyone that wants to come to america is welcome or something to that effect. I support the idea that anyone who is willing to come that wants to embrace the ideals of america that's great but, what about those that want to destroy it from the inside???
Amen, sister!!! Glad you're getting caught. FYI, I'm wanting to do a Spring Folk Dance get together with all of the Nor Cal folks. I'll keep you posted.
By the way, I meant to say, "Glad you're getting caught up." Just fyi...:)
i'm glad you are blogging again too! i had mixed feeling during the whole inauguration too. as a side note, i saw this thing that if you go to the website for todays diet and nutrition magazine and sign up to subscribe you can get 3 year for free by entering code INAUG09. looking forward to your next posts :)
Welcome back :)
I thought it was funny how he messed up the oath and afterwards radio hosts kept saying, "Well, since he didn't say it word for word, is he really the president?" I thought it was very um, interesting that he is the first president that chose not to read the oath (since its only 35 words). It obviously backfired.
And I just made my blog private, but I don't know if I sent you an invite? If you want one, email me: parknlark at gmail dot com.
Also, I just started doing a show with Signature Productions - the community theater here in Vegas - did you ever do a show with them? I keep thinking about you and wishing you still lived here to do this show with me - I'm having a great time and it would be fun to do this with my "twin"!
I echo your thoughts completely, Tara's too. I think the political pendulum will have to swing all the way left before it comes back to the right. I will just pray for our President and our country. I think this is just a great sifting of the wheat from the tares.
I love your thoughts! I agree! I can't wait for more posts...I keep checking for new updates :) Miss you guys!!
I am glad that you are back. I totally agree with your comments about Obamma. I am nervous to say the least. I am so glad that we have the gospel and Prophets to prepare us and lead us. It is a future of uncertainty without it.
