Run Amuck

Saturday John and I took Maisey and we drove up to the Reno River Festival. Yes, we do a lot of things on the spur of the moment. Anyways, I had heard about this festival and always wanted to check it out. Most of the festival is centered around the river and the kayak competitions. For the first time they had this run called the "Run Amuck". We decided to run it; why not - right? This is a two person relay run. 2.5 miles each with obstacle course craziness - costumes encouraged. We did not wear costumes but we were definitely in the minority on that one. Girls were running in wedding dresses, guys in speedos - scary! I ran the first leg running through water being shot at us, army drills, jumping over hay bales, crawling through a huge mud pit. going through a slippery bounce house thing and then finally handing over the baton (which was a bar of soap - go figure) to John for the second leg through the same course. It was so fun! The last time I crawled through any sort of mud was back in high school when the retention basin near the Sundell and Stewart's houses filled up with water and a few of us girls crawled through the mud. If I remember right we then went and put our muddy bodies on the guys cars. They then retaliated by putting Vaseline on our car door handles (I think that's how that all went down!)
Pre race picture.

Post race muddiness!

The race picture they took of us - Why am I the one doing the heavy lifting here?

Maisey's typical outdoors look.

Too cute with her glasses!

After the race we went and cleaned off in the Truckee river. It was freezing but sort of refreshing once you were a little numb. We even slid down a rapid that sucks you under than pushes you back out. It was kind of scary but had the water not been so cold I would have done it again. I felt like such a hippie - the whole festival had a college beer festival/hippie river vibe to it. If you are wondering where Maisey was this whole time we switched off with one of us watching her while the other ran and cleaned off in the river. She just hung out with her sunglasses taking it all in like she does.

The kayaks on the river.

One of the best moments of the trip was seeing this booth - yes you are reading correctly, it says Beaded Bra Straps. I was sorely tempted to investigate but I couldn't stop laughing. So ladies - just in case there is not way for those bra straps not to show, there is now a classy way for you to display them.

that looks so fun. I would never be able to run 2.5 miles under ideal circumstances. Where do you find out about these things. Dan and I need to get out more.

Ok so Lisa, how do you think those bra straps would look on top of my garments?

Holy crap, Lisa! I cannot believe you can hold your husband like that? Simply amazing. That run sounds so fun! My friend Ames is always asking me to do some mud run with her in Cali. I wonder if it is the same one?

so we totally LOVE our MAC. i would recommend one. we don't have any virus problems and it never shuts down or freezes on us like our PC did. and the iMAC are great because their is no tower... your whole computer is just your screen. very space efficient! i'm a little biased, but i would say you should do it!

Hey Lisa. So happy to find you through the blogosphere! This race looks awesome. I am so ready to get out running again now that my baby finally came out. What is it with this family and reluctant babies. Mine have all been eventually forcefully evicted.
My family had fun hanging out with you last weekend. I wish I could have been there too.
